We are all born equal as sentient beings. In that we all have a spiritual and divine content at the core of what we are. Although, in physical terms develop differently and unequally. We are all the product of different genes, conditioning and opportunity.
Hence inequalities are not created but inherent. The free market system which allows these inequalities to be expressed is closest to the human condition.
When free markets create wealth, they do so not only for the entrepreneur, the initiator of the wealth creation, but across the economy by chain reaction. Market breakthroughs create billionaires, pushing the highest quintile of wealth upwards, while granting economic benefits for the rest of society. Wealth begets wealth.
The upper echelons of the business community have the capacity to push technology, create and facilitate markets and therefore consumer choice. Big business is good. Not only for us but for future generations, perhaps for centuries to come.
It is often said that those who have earned great wealth should ‘give something back’, as though they had taken something from society. In fact, through creative thinking, taking profound risk and diligence they contribute to society more wealth than they extract.
Kindness, philanthropy and compassion is a virtue for rich and poor alike. Each within their means.
Society needs economic role models. In the same way as Hollywood needs A list superstars. For every Hollywood star, there are a thousand more hopefuls who have spent their lives pursuing stardom. Take away the story and glory of stardom, and we lose the unsaid thousands who would not have staked their time and skills to become one of those stars to entertain us. Similarly, the tycoon and the business mogul inspire millions of entrepreneurs, inventors and pioneers who may not reach the peak of the pyramid, but still improve our well being.
When a property developer, for example, builds a house, he creates work not only for the builders on site, but wealth for the suppliers of the building materials. Those who manufacture the concrete etc. And then for the estate agent who sells the property. Pays taxes on the profit. His profit is banked, giving the bank resources to lend to consumers. Who will then spend this money which will in some shape be distributed in the economy at large.
The proposition that the Stare should levy high taxes on the rich is to imply that the State can distribute this money better than the wealth earner himself.
The pyramid is a sacred symbol throughout history. It represents the natural order of all things. We are a today located in different points of different pyramids. Any political system or philosophy, which is inclined towards crude egalitarianism is restraining the creation of wealth. And therefore the betterment of all of us.
